Thinnai fête: book launch of Ari Gautier’s new works

Book launch of Ari Gautier’s new short story collection and second novel’s English translation, with panel discussion and Q&A.

About this event: The IATIO project (India and the Indian Ocean in the Early Decolonial Period: Archipelagic Imaginaries, 1950s-1970s), Le thinnai kreyol, and King’s India Institute launch Ari Gautier’s short story collection, Nocturne Pondichéry, and The Thinnai, the English translation by Blake Smith of his second novel, Le thinnai. Speakers include: Professor Nicholas Harrison and Drs Ian Magedera, Priyanka Basu, and Luca Raimondi. Professor Ananya Jahanara Kabir, co-founder with Gautier of their cultural platform, le thinnai kreyol, will chair, and Dr Vinicius de Carvalho, King’s Brazil Institute, will introduce the event. There will be a response from the author. We look forward to a spectacular celebration of India’s Francophone heritage, creolised culture, and archipelagic connections.
