Dr Christina Scharff has had a busy June and became well acquainted with British Airways’ in flight entertainment programme. A
na Sofia Elias, Laura Harvey and Dr Scharff presented at the 7th International Gender and Language Association Conference in Brazil (see http://lostincci.wordpress.com/2012/07/12/cmci-goes-to-brazil-or-at-least-some-of-us-cmci-attendance-at-the-international-gender-and-language-association-conference/). Then Christina flew to Boston (via London – therefore the familiarity with the in flight entertainment) to speak at the annual conference of the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE).
The conference entitled Global Shifts: Implications for Business, Government and Labour took place from 28-30 June at MIT, Cambridge, Boston. Christina’s presentation Enterprising selves? Negotiating precarious employment in cultural work formed part of the conference’s stream on Precarious Employment and Young Workers.
