Howells on Glamour

CMCI’s Reader in Culture, Media and Creative Industries Dr Richard Howells gave a guest research seminar to the Department of History of Art at Cambridge University. He spoke on “Heroes, Saints and the Glamour of the Gods: A Trans-historical Look at the Celebrity Image.” This drew from his recently published research on the ontology of the celebrity photograph, together with a review essay on the National Portrait Gallery’s “Glamour of the Gods” exhibition, forthcoming in the academic journal Celebrity Studies.
